In partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend (WFSCB) will host nine information sessions on the services and benefits available to the affected IMS Workers on three different days to help those impacted by this unforeseen situation. This is in response to the increased number of Unemployment Insurance Benefits that have been filed this week at WFSCB Career Centers even though an official Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) was never submitted to the Texas Workforce Commission. (The WARN offers protection to workers, their families and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of covered plant closings and covered mass layoffs employing at least 50 people at a single site of employment.)

WFSCB makes it a top priority to have an action plan in place to help the unemployed worker no matter what their situation is, particularly sensitive to those who have become unemployed through no fault of their own. WFSCB’s Rapid Response Team has quickly organized nine information sessions to help the impacted IMS workers learn about the services and benefits that are available to them with the ultimate goal of re-engaging them into the workforce as quickly as possible.

It’s important to note that anyone may come to WFSCB and utilize the services, whether or not an official WARN notification has been received. All services are available for employees impacted by a layoff or job separation include: job search assistance, résumé and application preparation, interview preparation, labor market and career information, crisis counseling, financial planning assistance, which includes financial management and debt management, stress/change management, including stress management related to job loss and information related to Trade Adjustment Assistance services.
