With the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we all find ourselves in uncharted territory. Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend (WFSCB) is diligently listening to and following the advice of medical and government officials as the situation in our region and across the globe changes daily.

Our hearts go out to everyone whose health and livelihood has been impacted by this pandemic. The safety and well-being of our staff, customers, partners and communities are of the utmost importance to us. With that in mind, we wanted to share these latest developments with you.

Effective at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020, we are temporarily closing all seven Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend Career Centers to the public to align with recommendations for small group gatherings and safe social distancing. Our Workforce Career Center Staff will continue to be available to serve customers by phone, email and online.

For assistance, please contact us Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at (361) 882-7491. To file for unemployment and for the latest COVID-19 information, visit our resource page @ workforcesolutionscb.org/covid19resources.

Unemployment Insurance Benefits information can be found on the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) website for job seekers and for employers. For our customers who participate in the Texas Workforce Commission subsidized child care program, the Commission has determined that children may accrue absences without impacting ongoing eligibility for services. Please visit the TWC website for more information about child care.

We realize that many of our customers are required to attend various workshops and meetings to remain eligible for benefits. Workforce Career Center Staff can provide more information and can be reached by calling 361-882-7491. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we navigate this changing landscape. We will keep you informed of any new developments as we follow guidance from the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control, and local government and health officials.

Stay healthy and safe. We will see you soon. Thank you for your patience.
