Texas Industry Partnership Program Award Announcement and Check Presentation

KINGSVILLE, TX – Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend, in partnership with the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce and Coastal Bend College, is pleased to announce, Texas Workforce Commissioner Representing Employers, Aaron Demerson will be participating in a Texas Industry Partnership grant presentation on April 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce.

The grant, in the amount of $150,000, will fund the creation of an Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) certification program at Coastal Bend College. The program will train students as Aircraft Mechanics & Service Technicians in the Aerospace, Aviation, and Defense industry cluster. Students will earn an A.A.S. and FAA certifications, preparing them for job opportunities in the industry and with contractors at Naval Air Station (NAS) Kingsville.

“We are honored to receive this grant and grateful for the opportunity to partner with Coastal Bend College and the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce to create this certification program,” said Ken Trevino, President & CEO of Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend. “This program will provide valuable training to individuals in our community, while also helping to support the mission of Naval Air Station-Kingsville.”

The event will feature a check presentation with opening remarks from Manny Salazar, Kingsville Chamber of Commerce President & CEO, Victor Gomez, Chairman, CBC Board of Trustees, and Mr. Ken Trevino, Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend President/CEO. Attendees will include Dr. Cecilia “Cissy” Reynolds-Perez, Kingsville ISD Superintendent, industry representatives from Rolls Royce and Vortex, military partners Rear Admiral Richard Brophy- CNATRA, elected officials, Kingsville Mayor, Sam Fugate. The check will be presented along with closing remarks by Aaron Demerson, Texas Workforce Commissioner Representing Employers.
