Coastal Bend Maritime Community to Host First Maritime Expo and Career Fair in Over Eight Years

Corpus Christi, TX – The Coastal Bend Maritime Expo & Career Fair is set to take place on April 12th at the Ortiz Center, 402 Harbor Drive. As the Coastal Bend Maritime Community prepares to host its first Maritime Expo & Career Fair in over eight years, one of its sponsors from G&H Towing, Xavier F. Valverde Sr., General Manager, shared his thoughts on the abundance of opportunities available in the maritime industry. According to Xavier, “…Coastal Bend residents will be pleasantly surprised by the variety of jobs and careers available on and off the water. […] Anyone who attends the Maritime Expo & Career Fair will leave with a much better understanding and appreciation of the professionals who work diligently to support every vessel which calls on the Corpus Christi area and sails the high seas.”

Xavier optimistically expresses to students and job seekers, “If you want to travel the Gulf Coast, go home every evening, work seven days on and off, or fourteen days on and off, there’s a job for you right here in the area. If you want to work in an environment where you see the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets and marine life while operating and maintaining some of the biggest vessels in the world, the maritime industry is a great choice for you.”

Students from around the Coastal Bend will get to explore careers, training resources and networking with employers from 10:00 am – 2:00 PM and will also have a rare chance to step aboard four different operating vessels from G&H Towing, Signet Maritime Corp., the Port of Corpus Christi’ Fireboat, and a U.S. Coast Guard Vessel.
