Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend’s (WFSCB’s) Early Childhood Development Quality Services Program (ECDQSP) focuses on professional development training activities for child care providers. These training activities enable child care providers to improve and enhance the overall “quality” of the services they provide to the children and families they serve. The ECDQSP utilized a variety of professional trainers who are experts in the field of early childhood education.
The ECDQSP’s objectives are:
- To ensure that WFSCB’s child care providers are providing enhanced levels of care for the children served in WFSCB child care centers.
- To promote and encourage school readiness for the children in WFSCB’s child care center’s four and five year old classrooms.
- To promote and encourage advanced levels of education for WFSCB child care providers because they impact and are a vital part of the local workforce community.
In addition to the professional development training activities, child care centers may pursue several certifications, i.e. Texas Rising Star (TRS) Certification, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), etc… Child care centers that meet the criteria for either the State or National “quality” certification programs are identified as “quality” child care center(s). A quality child care center is a child care center that meets standards that are above the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services’ (TXDFPS’) Child Care Licensing (CCL) Division’s Minimum Standards. Those child care centers designated as “quality” facilities receive an enhanced provider reimbursement daily rate of pay for services they provide. WFSCB encourages its all of its child care providers to pursue the TRS certification.
